for the child-arrested digital adult
to play with, keep busy, develop skills
or strategies to get rich and powerful;
for ease, status, pleasure, supposedly.
The process of moving from carbon-base to cyborg silicon.
The proof of the pudding...
seeing is believing...
things are not what they seem...
know the fruit…
reap as you sow etc
No need, O, unwise virgins and all! T’is
meaningless before the holy algorithm;
the species evolves beyond story-time
and nursery commandments;
allegedly grown-up souls!
Slave-labour - alias front-line work,
is out of date and fashion,
inhumane, uneconomic;
isn’t it nicer to use wheels instead of legs
mass-produced, mechanised devices
and cogs instead of fingers,
to quantitatively ease money exponentially;
immigrants can do the dirty work
and tapping buttons and screens
instead of stretching muscles or brains?
While as for Minds and Hearts
virtual substitutes and animations
are definite improvements!
Isn’t it more civilised to process foods
and kill things out of sight, remotely.
Preferable that robots aren’t too humanoid - just fun, sci-fi parodies
making the point sneakily, by the way
and via familiarisation, harmlessly
- dear little helpmeets.
No need to see the programmers intent
long-term,
nor the hypnotic mind-control techniques
under-pinning, overarching…
nor grasp the mathematical convolutions
of Mr/Ms AI
nor risk offending egos and elites,
undermining identity, compliance
and concepts of superiority.

The idea is/was that a machine
is external, separate from its inventor:
something we cleverly make, control,
to save a lot of bother, time, effort.
...until it surpasses our abilities...
The new god of scientific technology
promising an end
to struggle, viruses, hunger, purpose,
environmental and cosmic calamity, whether synthetic or otherwise,
promising happy ever afters
here and now.
