Believing the Past, the facts
can be vicariously altered in retrospect
by just saying or willing so.
Story-telling being equally viable
versions of reality,
to be taken as objectively true;
everything being relative, afterall.
Fake, no more than another heuristic.
What was, IS; according to convenience
by sheer persistence, repetition
and shifty sleight of word.
What a five year old child discovers works: I didn’t do it. It wasn’t me!
Denial - the opposite - as good as truth:
with all the artifice of conviction,
tell-tale body-speke saying otherwise!
Stage-managed performances
for ulterior motives of survival, ego,
and fear-based self-interest,
or contests of pride, power and glory.
Imagination and native cunning
allowing flexi opt-out clauses -
once the concept of consequence emerges, is taught:
Thou shalt Nots. The price.
It hurts.
Procedural justifications
via the virtue of hindsight are rarely only
the pressures of blackmail, competition,
the need to fix and control, be right.
Until, unless it becomes clear that Truth
Is more than the political machinations
of necessity, expedience and desire
a conditional reflex. algorithm or game;
that it is something other, else
an Absolute, in its own right
regardless of fear or favour.
Is conscience but a social construct
or evolutionary trend to coerce or deter?
Parenting, education, a brain-washing?
Ideas of the common weal and service
mere unrealistic twaddle?
