Virtually

Everything is!
Virtual hugs, conferencing,
 data exchange, relationships,
even dates, parties, jobs, money,
declarations of love or war.

All that’s left for the Earth plane,
in view of the species’ vast populations
 is creating (more) babies
- which can be done in a test-tube
or, lab rat style, by holy IVF -
chopping down trees, burying the dead,
surgical procedures and feeding faces.

Besides those deciding potent moments:
signing of contracts, buying the car,
committing to a Course or marriage:
The rest, poof! Not just dispensable
but easily reduced to digits
and to unreal substitutes.

The Mind is already at home in virtuality
whether in linear mode
with its number-crunching algorithms,
or abstractly:
familiar zone of the mystics, yogis
the composers, artists, visionaries
the realm of sheer imagination
- expressing the genius of potentials
of wisdom and luminosity
or delusion, fantasy, even insanity.
 Thus
material transactions and interactions
become fast-tracked to cyber space:
the hi-tech freeway beyond physicality
where we spend our nights
as with day-dreaming, meditation, prayer
gawping at teles, paralysed by fears, ambitions, obsessions or addictions
mostly out-of-body anyway.

But how is this so clever?
What is it all for?
All this compressing of time,
invalidating actual movement
reducing a species to couch-potato-dom
and screen-struck automation?
Silicon Valley’s recipe:
a basic living wage. Life, a hobby.
One new CEO King -  of AI robots.
Mr Z?
Riding bicycles in the bedroom
instead of down a lovely lane
and running at a standstill
while watching zombie movies...
...might as well, breath virtual air
and suffice with virtual food, Man!
